Discover Diving is a BSAC snorkelling centre. We offer training from beginner up to Snorkel Instructor level. There are a number of different options for snorkel training courses.
- We run a snorkel club that meets every week. Suitable from the age of 6 upwards (must be able to swim 2 lengths without floats). Junior members tend to learn better when skills are practised and repeated. Theory lessons are tailored towards the age of the snorkeller.
- For adults we offer the chance to undertake a concentrated training course across 2 pool sessions. The first week you will learn the skills with an instructor. Maximum group size is 6. For the second week you will get to practise your new skills with one of our instructors coaching you to embed and improve your new skills.

We offer 3 levels of BSAC snorkel training...
Dolphin Snorkeller
This course is aimed at younger children and introduces snorkelling via a series of seven progressive fun in water sessions. Each session is named after a different type of dolphin, and completion of a session results in the award of the corresponding dolphin sticker. Once students have collected a complete set of dolphin stickers, they can be awarded the grade of BSAC Dolphin Snorkeller. There are no theory lessons in this grade. This grade is completed in the pool.
Snorkel Diver
The skills in Dolphin Snorkeller are complimented by the Snorkel Diver classroom lessons and knowledge assessment. This leads to the award of the BSAC Snorkel Diver grade. The classroom sessions teach the theoretical knowledge of snorkelling, coupled with practical lessons in the pool. The training is structured and progressive, building skills and confidence. Completion of Snorkel Diver allows snorkellers to start sea sessions from the shore and then from the boat.
Advanced Snorkeller
There are classroom sessions to teach more advanced theoretical knowledge of snorkelling, coupled with practical lessons in Open Water. An Advanced Snorkeller is a comprehensively trained, experienced and responsible snorkeller. Additional skills include navigation, using marker buoys and conducting searches.
